DARK GAIA'S PROFILE

I develop games and I write. I have a Bachelor of Arts in creative writing and journalism. I like writing speculative fiction, horror and literary fiction, sometimes all blended together. You can find elements of my writing in my games, because I consider my games to be stories just that happen to have gameplay.

I post updates on my Facebook and Twitter:

Legionwood 2: Rise of the Eternal's Realm

Yes, if you haven't finished the first game, this might be an excellent time to! However, keep in mind that I'm catering to those who have never played Legionwood 1 as well, with a stand alone story.

Legionwood: Tale Of The Two Swords

Hi jnf1985,

1. That's a good idea! Unfortunately I lack the scripting ability to do that but I'm sure someone else could do it for me if I made a request. As for the long winded nature of the cutscenes, I'm well aware of it and have been for a while. I'm incredibly busy at the moment, but I've been meaning to go through the game and rewrite the entire script. It would take a lot of time though, which is the problem.

2. I wasn't aware that Study Enemies only works once. It's based on a switch event, so it should really work as many times as it is used. However, I will look into testing this and also adding a HP counter that unlocks after using the Tech. Regarding the Piruette Tech, that's simply a matter of me changing the effect of the Tech but not updating its description. I can't believe I didn't notice it!

3. Red Collar guards you from Critical Hits. ie. it prevents enemies landing them on you. Buffs also do not stack. Each time you use the buff, it is a once only 50% increase of the attribute. This is why they only last for 3 - 5 rounds. 50% is actually a significant increase and, late game, can make your attacks extremely powerful, so it's for a short period only. Seriously, for a character with an Attack of 100, Sharpen would increase it to 150, which would make an average damage value of say 800 increase to nearly 1500! It's especially worse with Quick Thinking.

Legionwood 2: Rise of the Eternal's Realm

I'm making a lot of progress on this game! Check the new Blog post!

Legionwood 2: Rise of the Eternal's Realm

Well you know, three centuries is kind of a bit long to call short lived. Relative to the spans of thousands of years touched upon in the first Legionwood, however, it is quite a short period.

It's meant in the context of that one would expect there to be thousands of years of peace after a foe like Castoth was banished (as was stated in the first game) and in that sense, the peace is short lived because it's only been a mere 300 years until trouble stirs again.

But I get your point. I'll change it.

Legionwood 2: Rise of the Eternal's Realm

No, this game is made in a completely different engine and your Legionwood 1 save files will not work. Why you'd want to use them though...

I kind of think so too, but the generator in VX Ace doesn't have any lighter lining than that and I myself lack the spriting skills neccesary to fix it.

@Dyhalto: I'm sorry, I actually didn't think of that before I uploaded it. I download the picture off a Facebook page I was hosting it on and it seems the original filename was replaced with that mess.

They're from Ace's in built character generator. I used it for all of the characters.

Legionwood 2: Rise of the Eternal's Realm

Hi! I think it might be wise if I did clear up some confusion... Yes, there was another game called Legionwood 2: Revolution in Taltarus being made in VX. It wasn't a direct sequel and didn't carry over any gameplay elements or story from the first (in fact, originally it was a different game entirely just called Taltarus but I unceremoniously slapped the Legionwood name on it). However, it to be honest wasn't very good, so I cancelled it.

This is the true Legionwood sequel. This game directly continues the story of Legionwood and is more similar in gameplay than the false sequel was. It's intended from the start to be a Legionwood game instead of another unrelated game that was branded as such. That said, perhaps a better name for it might have been Legionwood ACE?

So, to conclude, the other game, not really being a Legionwood game to begin with, has been dropped and the series officially consists of only the original game and this sequel.

He's actually meant to be a heavy drinker. It's because of a tragedy that happened in his backstory. It fills him with a false sense of bravado and confidence.

@Natsu: That stairway actually leads nowhere. I forgot to remove it when I decided not to give that dungeon a second floor.

To port save files: open the Legionwood directory (where you installed it to) and copy all of the files labelled "Questxx.rvdata" and "Questxx.bmp" into the directory of the newer Legionwood version.
